The primary objective was to create a website that encapsulates the Kootenay Women In Business (KWIB) brand, serving as a resource hub for women in business. The website would host the digital version of the magazine, promote the magazine’s print issues, invite female entrepreneurs to contribute through advertising, writing articles, and being featured in the directory, and promote a variety of events such as networking summits, workshops, and retreats. Additionally, the site needed to feature Lynn’s emotional fitness programs, which she offers through her other business, emPoweredlives.

The branding for the KWIB website was designed to complement the original look and feel of Lynn’s therapy company, emPoweredlives, which was beautifully crafted by Mishell Raedeke. Mishell also created the KWIB logo; however, Lynn envisioned something a bit softer and more feminine for this project. After working with Lynn, we decided on a lighter, more delicate colour palette that perfectly captures the essence of KWIB while still honouring its roots.

Colour Palette:

• Almost White #fffbfa: This shade of white is pure and clean, evoking a sense of simplicity and openness. It creates a fresh, airy feel that serves as a perfect backdrop for the other colours.

• Soft Cream #fff7f4: Cream adds a touch of warmth and comfort, creating a welcoming and approachable atmosphere. It softens the overall look, making the brand feel more personal and inviting.

• Gentle Lavender #9bafcf: Lavender is associated with calmness, femininity, and creativity. It brings a sense of serenity and balance, which aligns with KWIB’s mission to support and nurture women entrepreneurs.

• Regal Purple #6b72b2: Purple represents wisdom, dignity, and ambition. This shade adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the brand, reflecting the strength and leadership of the women in the KWIB community.

• Deep Indigo #2b1555: Indigo conveys depth, integrity, and intuition. It grounds the colour palette, providing a sense of stability and trustworthiness, essential qualities for a community-focused brand.

Typography:

• Heading Font: IvyPresto Display: This font is elegant and timeless, with a sense of refinement that commands attention without overwhelming. It adds a touch of sophistication to headings, making them stand out while maintaining a graceful aesthetic.

• Paragraph Font: Poppins: Poppins is a modern, geometric sans-serif font that feels clean and approachable. It ensures readability and clarity, making the content easy to engage with while adding a contemporary flair to the design.

• Subheading Font: Corinthia: Matching the cursive font in the logo, Corinthia is soft and flowing, adding a personal and feminine touch to subheadings. It brings a sense of warmth and creativity, perfectly complementing the overall brand feel.

The KWIB website is a dynamic, nine-page site designed to be a comprehensive resource for women in business. Key features include a prominent event promotion area, an embedded interactive digital magazine, a business directory, and multiple avenues for collaboration, such as advertorials, advertising opportunities, and article submissions. The site also features interactive forms for submissions and inquiries, ensuring an engaging and user-friendly experience. Regular updates will keep the content fresh, with new issues of the magazine, articles, and directory entries being added quarterly.

• Increased Visibility: The KWIB website enhances the visibility of Kootenay Women In Business by providing a centralized online presence where women entrepreneurs can connect, collaborate, and share their stories.

• Strengthened Brand Identity: Through consistent branding and a user-friendly design, the website reinforces KWIB’s brand identity as a supportive and empowering community for women in business.

• Enhanced Engagement: The interactive features, such as the digital magazine, event promotions, and submission forms, actively engage users, encouraging continuous interaction and participation.

• Comprehensive Resource Hub: The website serves as a central platform, supporting women at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey—from starting out to growing established businesses.
